Description

The Simple Layered Taco Bake is a quick and hearty crowd-pleaser that reimagines the classic taco as a savory, easy-to-serve casserole. By layering seasoned ground beef, soft flour tortillas, and creamy salsa con queso, this dish ensures every bite is moist, flavorful, and structurally satisfying. Designed for busy weeknights, this Tex-Mex favorite shifts from prep to plate in under thirty minutes, offering a reliable, consistent, and comforting dinner for the entire family without any complicated techniques.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning (no alcohol)
4 large flour tortillas
1 cup salsa con queso
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced tomatoes for garnish
1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
Stir the taco seasoning into the ground beef according to package directions adding a splash of water as needed.
Place one flour tortilla in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
Spread a portion of the beef mixture over the tortilla, followed by a layer of salsa con queso and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a final layer of cheese on top.
Bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before slicing and topping with fresh diced tomatoes and green onions.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat individual portions in the microwave until warmed through. For extra texture, try lightly toasting the tortillas in a dry pan before layering.
