Description

These decadent salted brownie cookies are the perfect fusion of a fudgy brownie and a chewy cookie. Featuring a deep, intense cocoa flavor, a signature crackly, shiny top, and a rich, moist interior, they are finished with a delicate sprinkle of flaked sea salt to balance the sweetness. Simple to prepare and quick to bake, these cookies are a crowd-pleasing treat that satisfies every chocolate craving with sophisticated, savory-sweet flair.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Flaked sea salt for topping

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until the mixture is well combined and slightly glossy.
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt, folding with a spatula until just combined.
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9-10 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops have developed a crackly crust.
Remove from the oven, immediately sprinkle the tops with a pinch of flaked sea salt, and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain the best texture. For a softer cookie, do not overbake; pull them out when the centers still look slightly underdone, as they will firm up while cooling.
