Description
These delightful, bite-sized churro bites offer the perfect blend of a crispy, golden-brown exterior and a light, airy center. A classic Spanish-inspired treat, these nuggets are made using a traditional choux pastry base, then fried to perfection and tossed in aromatic cinnamon sugar. They are the ultimate crowd-pleasing snack, ideal for parties or quick weekend cravings, especially when served with a warm chocolate dipping sauce.
Ingredients
1 cup water
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil for frying
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and butter; bring to a boil.
Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a ball forms.
Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F.
Pipe 1-inch lengths of dough into the hot oil using kitchen shears to snip them off.
Fry for 2-3 minutes per batch until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and toss immediately in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Notes
Ensure the oil stays at a consistent temperature to prevent greasy bites. Use a star-shaped piping tip to create the signature ridges which help the cinnamon sugar stick to the surface. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, though they are best eaten fresh.
