With a satisfying crunch on the outside and a soft, buttery center, this fool-proof recipe delivers professional-level results in under 45 minutes, making it an ideal choice for quick weeknight sides or casual social events.

Ingredients

1 large crusty sourdough or vienna loaf
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cut the bread loaf in a diamond pattern, slicing deep into the bread but ensuring you do not cut all the way through to the bottom.
In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and half the parsley until smooth.
Use a butter knife or small spatula to spread the garlic butter mixture into the cuts in the bread.
Stuff the shredded mozzarella cheese into each of the diamond cuts.
Wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes, then carefully open the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to crisp the crust.
Garnish with the remaining fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure the loaf is sturdy like sourdough to maintain its structure. You can experiment with adding parmesan or herbs like basil for different flavor profiles. Serve immediately while the cheese is still hot and stretchy.
