A high-protein, handheld meal featuring halal ground beef spiced with cumin, coriander, and oregano, served in warm pitas with crisp cucumber-onion salad and a sweet-hot feta cream. Packed with Mediterranean flavors and balanced nutrition.
Ingredients
4 oz (113g) lean halal ground beef
1 pita per serving
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Salt to taste
2 cups romaine lettuce (optional)
1 cup diced cucumber
1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp red wine vinegar (substitute with lemon juice if needed)
4 oz feta cheese
2 tbsp Greek yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1/4 tsp hot sauce
2 tbsp chopped parsley
2 tbsp sliced black olives
Warm pita bread
Lettuce wraps (alternative)
Orange slices (optional garnish)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
Add cumin, coriander, oregano, and salt. Stir well to coat.
Meanwhile, mix cucumber, red onion, and red wine vinegar as the base salad.
Whip feta cheese with Greek yogurt, honey, hot sauce, and parsley to create the hot honey feta cream.
Warm pitas in a toaster or skillet until pliable.
Layer romaine lettuce at the base of each pita to prevent tearing.
Add the spiced beef mixture.
Top with cucumber-salad, hot honey feta cream, olives, and optional orange slices.
Fold and serve warm or at room temperature.
