Ingredients
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup warm milk
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp strong brewed chai tea (chilled)
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp ground ginger
Instructions
Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let proof for 5 minutes.
Mix in pumpkin puree, melted butter, and flour to form a soft dough.
Knead the dough for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic, then rise for 60 minutes.
Roll dough into a large rectangle and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 even pieces.
Place rolls in a baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
Whisk together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, chai tea, cardamom, and ginger.
Spread the glaze generously over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the dough the night before and let it do its second rise in the refrigerator overnight. Ensure the chai tea is chilled before adding to the icing to prevent the cream cheese from melting. These rolls are best served warm.
