Description

Experience the vibrant, aromatic explosion of authentic Thai Basil Chicken. This classic street food dish combines succulent ground chicken with spicy chilies and the peppery, unmistakable fragrance of fresh Thai basil. Perfectly balanced with a savory umami sauce, this stir-fry comes together in minutes, offering a restaurant-quality meal right in your own kitchen. Ideal for busy weeknights, it is a healthy and flavorful choice that will leave you craving more.

Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken
4 cloves garlic, minced
2-3 Thai bird’s eye chilies, thinly sliced
2 cups fresh Thai holy basil leaves
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp honey or maple syrup
2 tbsp water

Instructions

Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
Add the minced garlic and sliced chilies, stirring until fragrant but not browned.
Add the ground chicken to the pan, breaking it apart with a spatula until cooked through and slightly seared.
In a small bowl, whisk together the fish sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, and water.
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until coated and caramelized.
Turn off the heat and immediately toss in the fresh Thai basil leaves.
Stir gently until the basil is wilted by the residual heat and serve immediately over steamed jasmine rice.

Notes

Adjust the number of chilies to manage the heat level according to your preference. If you cannot find holy basil, regular Thai basil works as a suitable substitute. Ensure the pan is very hot before adding the ingredients to achieve the best sear.
