Description

These Cheesy Beef Flautas are the ultimate Tex-Mex comfort food, featuring a savory ground beef filling blended with creamy cheeses, all rolled into flour tortillas and fried to golden, crispy perfection. This recipe offers a satisfying crunch that gives way to a rich, molten interior. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings, these handheld delights transform pantry staples into a restaurant-quality meal that is both reliable and exceptionally flavorful.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp sour cream
1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
8 flour tortillas
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, draining any excess fat.
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Remove from heat and stir in the cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
Fold in the shredded pepper jack cheese.
Lay a tortilla flat and place a generous spoonful of meat mixture near one edge.
Roll the tortilla tightly into a thin cylinder and secure with a toothpick if necessary.
Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet to medium-high heat.
Fry the flautas in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
Drain on paper towels before serving warm.

Notes

Ensure the filling is not too hot before rolling to prevent the tortillas from tearing. You can serve these with guacamole, salsa, or extra sour cream for dipping.
