Description

Crisp, flavorful, and incredibly fast, these Asian-Style Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are the ultimate weeknight solution. This dish replaces heavy tortillas with fresh Boston Bibb lettuce, offering a satisfying crunch alongside savory, umami-rich seasoned beef. Perfect for a busy household, this recipe emphasizes minimal cleanup and high-quality, recognizable ingredients to deliver a light, healthy, and high-protein meal that genuinely feels like takeout.

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef
1 head Boston Bibb lettuce, leaves separated and washed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 cup water chestnuts, diced
2 green onions, sliced
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the water chestnuts, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil to the skillet.
Stir well and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce has thickened and coated the beef.
Remove from heat and stir in the sliced green onions.
To serve, spoon the beef mixture into the center of individual lettuce leaves and fold.

Notes

Store leftover beef mixture in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving in fresh lettuce leaves. You can add shredded carrots or bean sprouts for extra texture.
