Description
Tender chicken breasts slow-cooked in a tangy, sweet, and savory barbecue glaze. This hands-off recipe yields shredded chicken perfect for meals or meal prep, with a rich caramelized flavor from brown sugar and pork-free Worcestershire sauce.
Ingredients
2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
18-20 oz bottled barbecue sauce (alcohol-free)
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp pork-free Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a crockpot.
Cook on low for 4-7 hours, or until chicken is tender and easily shreds.
Using two forks, shred the chicken in the pot.
Stir to coat the meat in the sauce.
Cook on high for an additional 1 hour to thicken the glaze.
Serve warm as a main dish or in tacos, bowls, or sandwiches.
Notes
For a fattier result, substitute chicken thighs for chicken breasts.
Coconut sugar or honey can be used instead of brown sugar.
Ensure the Worcestershire sauce is pork-free and the barbecue sauce is alcohol-free.
Chicken can be prepared up to three days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
