Description

These crispy ground beef tacos offer the perfect balance of a golden-brown, crunchy exterior and a savory, molten cheese interior. Using a quick pan-searing technique, these tacos are transformed into sturdy, handheld comfort food that delivers professional-grade texture right from your home kitchen. Ideal for busy weeknights or casual gatherings, this recipe relies on pantry-friendly ingredients to create a satisfying, kid-friendly meal that is consistently delicious every single time.

Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
8 small flour tortillas
1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Drain excess fat and stir in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Lay the flour tortillas flat and spread a layer of seasoned beef and shredded cheese on one half of each tortilla.
Fold each tortilla in half, pressing down lightly to secure the filling.
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Place 2-3 tacos in the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

Ensure the pan is not too hot to prevent the tortillas from burning before the cheese has time to melt. You can prepare the seasoned beef mixture up to 24 hours in advance to save time.
