A rich, one-pan pasta dish featuring halal sausage, al dente rigatoni, and fresh spinach in a velvety tomato-cream sauce. This Italian-American fusion meal combines earthy herbs, gentle heat from red pepper flakes, and a single-pot cooking method for impressive efficiency.

Ingredients

12 oz halal Italian turkey sausage (crumbled)
12 oz rigatoni pasta
3 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion (finely chopped)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 cup chicken broth
2 (28 oz) cans fire-roasted tomatoes (with juice)
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp dried basil)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet over medium heat
Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (3-4 mins)
Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cook 1 minute

Pour in chicken broth and crushed tomatoes with juice
Bring to simmer, stir to combine
Add rigatoni pasta, ensuring it’s submerged
Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook 10 mins until pasta absorbing liquid
Stir in fresh spinach until wilted (1-2 mins)
Add heavy cream, basil, and Italian seasoning
