Description
A rich, hands-off slow-cooked dish combining bold Cajun spices with a velvety butter and cream sauce. Tender chicken breasts in a glossy, aromatic, mildly spicy citrus-infused broth that’s perfect for busy weeknights or cozy gatherings.
Ingredients
4 chicken breasts
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 medium onion, sliced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1/4 cup green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
Pat chicken breasts dry and season both sides with Cajun seasoning and black pepper.
Heat olive oil in a skillet, brown chicken lightly on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side). Transfer to crockpot.
Add butter, garlic, onion, salt, cayenne pepper, and lemon juice to the crockpot.
Pour in heavy cream and stir to combine.
Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2-3 hours until chicken is tender and sauce thickens.
Garnish with green onions before serving.
Notes
For deeper flavor, let sauce rest in refrigerator for 24 hours before serving.
Substitute chicken thighs for additional richness.
Add vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for a heartier version.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
