Ingredients
2 cans (15-16oz each) plain baked beans
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp mustard
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Caramelize chopped onions in a saucepan until golden
Stir in ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper
Add baked beans, mix well
Transfer to oven-safe dish
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes
Notes
Use dark brown sugar for deeper flavor
Beans can be baked in advance; reheats well
Room temperature stability makes this great for events
Add 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar per cup of sauce for extra tang
