French Onion Chicken Skillet – Creamy One-Pan Dinner Recipe

Description

Creamy French onion chicken skillet made with tender chicken thighs, caramelized onions, broth, and melted cheese.


Ingredients

6 bone-in chicken thighs

3 large yellow onions, sliced

3 tbsp unsalted butter

2 tbsp olive oil

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 1/2 cups beef broth

1 tsp fresh thyme

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese


Instructions

1. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.

2. Heat olive oil in skillet and sear chicken until golden.

3. Remove chicken and add butter and onions.

4. Cook onions slowly until deeply caramelized.

5. Add garlic, thyme, broth, and Worcestershire sauce.

6. Return chicken to skillet and simmer until cooked.

7. Top with cheese and allow to melt before serving.

Notes

Use cast iron for best browning.
